ORF ö1: double bassist Uxía Martínez-Botana provides a new Mendelssohn experience

Uxía Martínez Botana also lends new—deeper—tones to the string quartets of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The Spanish double bassist was already a member of the Kremerata Baltica at the age of 23 and is also successful as a soloist and chamber musician For her latest album, Uxía Martínez Botana also worked as an arranger, replacing the cello with the double bass in selected string quartet pieces by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. This lends the familiar sounds a new—mysterious—dimension. The album's title, "Mendelssohn X Files," is inspired by the 1990s mystery crime series "The X-Files."
